What we use, and what it costs you after.
Most web design shops won't tell you what they're building on. That's a tell. You end up renting a site on someone else's platform with their ongoing fees and no way to take it with you when the relationship ends.
Here's the entire stack Obsidian Web Co. uses. Each tool is named, each tier is published, and each line is something you can keep running yourself after launch. Total ongoing cost for a typical small-business site: usually under \$20/month in year one.
You own everything. Full stop.
- Domain: in your name at Porkbun. I have no control.
- Code: pushed to your GitHub account. Full source, clean history.
- Hosting: deployed to your Vercel account. You can kick me out and re-deploy in 5 minutes.
- Content: blog posts, images, copy — all in your git repo.
- Analytics: GA4 + Clarity are both connected to your Google accounts.
- Email list: Mailchimp audience is on your account.
No "managed hosting" lock-in. No proprietary CMS you can't export from. No domain I register in my name. If we stop working together for any reason, you can keep everything running without me.
